Exploring some of the key points of the chapter as well as looking at the inspirational home of Quentin Leroux, designed by renowned interior designers Alexandra and Nicolas Valla or Royal Roulotte, keep on reading for a sneak peek at what Chapter 5 is all about!

Chapter 5 - Lighten Up

Lighten up darlings! Chapter 5 is totally dedicated to lighting. A fundamental aspect of interior design, lighting will set the mood in the home and so it's incredibly important to get it right.

5 Key Takeaways

    1. Fit a dimmer switch on every light that you have. It will change the atmosphere in a room from businesslike to intimate at the flick of a switch!
    2. Invest in a statement light which excels at creating impact and is a fantastic interior design trick! Don't be afraid to install a statement light in an unexpected place ... the bolder the better!
    3. Do not rely on a single ceiling light to light a room: it will cast a blank, hard overhead light that is a friend to no one. Instead, opt for multiple lighting sources that will create warm and inviting glow around the room.
    4. Choose your bulbs carefully. Edison style light bulbs are a style statement in themselves. Avoid cool white LED and go for the new, warmer tones.
    5. Candles are the absolute daddy when it comes to lighting. This light is alive, it dances, it flows and let's face it, it makes us all look a little bit more beautiful!
