Summer 2022 Colour Trend: Citrus & Spice

Discover summer style inspiration with our latest colour trend...

Taking inspiration from the long-awaited return of global travel, the colour palettes of our SS22 collection look to citrus fruits and aromatic spices. Most importantly, these palettes celebrate the power of colour to boost our moods. In addition, the collection introduces a sense of playful joy to the home by bringing laidback holiday vibes home. All three colour edits take inspiration from our favourite holiday destinations to celebrate the spirit of summer. However, this SS22 colour trend also evokes a sense of nostalgia and escapism when the summer season comes to a close. For example, within each palette, we have balanced the vibrancy of citrus tones with subtle spice-inspired alternatives for autumn.

Colour confidence has soared in the last decade. As a result, we are more empowered than ever to experiment with colour when decorating our homes. Firstly, colour is a great way to showcase personality. Moreover, colour can add character and create a space that sparks joy with ease. So, for 2022, get ready for unexpected hues from the colour wheel to step into the spotlight. Green remains the colour on the lips of any interior obsessive. However, yellow and orange have also become a big talking point. Brighter shades of lemon, lime and tangerine introduce summer vibes to the home. Meanwhile, spicy shades of mustard, hot paprika and cardamon offer a sultry, autumnal warmth. Embracing beautiful bright palettes for the fabulous colour fearless among us and subtle, grown-up alternatives with an earthy connection, these three colour trend palettes create an instant impact on any scale.

Lemon-Aid & Mustard Seed

Evocative of summer, yellow is associated with joy, optimism and the warmth of the sun. In short, decorating with yellow has the power to lift your mood and bring a smile to your face. As a result, yellow is taking over as the colour for creating cosy corners of happiness at home. On the brighter side of the spectrum, lemon yellow takes inspiration from the iconic citrus groves of the Amalfi Coast. This vivid take on the colour trend is a wonderful choice for introducing a pop of colour everywhere from alfresco dining tables to living room shelves. However, shades of honey, ochre and mustard provide a naturally warming alternative. These colours are therefore a gorgeous choice on a larger scale, from lighting to furniture and even the walls of your home.

Tangerine Dream & Hot Paprika Colour Trend

Next up is orange! Combining the energy of red with the infectious happiness of yellow, orange is a joyful colour. Often dismissed as difficult to decorate with, the popularity of terracotta and sienna tones prove this myth wrong. Consequently, as these earthy colour palettes have taken over as a colour trend, confidence in exploring brighter shades has grown. Vivid tangerine or clementine tones are colours to watch out for. These hot hues look glorious in interiors when embraced on a small scale alongside soft neutrals and bold black. Combining the rise of bright hues with the proven impact of terracotta, spicy burnt orange colour palettes are set to continue to take the interiors world by storm. From amber to rust and paprika, these tones evoke memories of balmy trips to the spice markets of Marrakech.

Zesty Lime & Toasted Cardamon

No colour trend edit is complete without a healthy dose of gorgeous greenery. With a unique connection to nature, green is a versatile colour that looks beautiful in every home style. For example, why not introduce a dash of lime to your home/garden, inspired by sipping margaritas in the sun?! Alternatively, muted shades of olive and toasted cardamon offer a sense of calm, balance and tranquillity. Perfect for paint, furniture and smaller accessories that complement your ever-growing collection of houseplants, you cannot go wrong with green. Our favourite way to decorate with green is against black to make the colours sing. However, the beauty of green is that both vivid shades and subtle hues can be styled almost anywhere...
