The rebellious and swinging 60's is one of the most influential eras of our time. Full to the brim of music, art, fashion and culture; the V&A's current exhibition You Say You Want a Revolution? Records and Rebels 1966-1970 screams and shouts everything we love and adore about the 60's. Get dizzy, crazy and hugely inspired by the psychedelic message of revolution.
Don't miss the Revolutions Weekender: A Festival of Peace, Love and Music - a special weekend of events and activities including live music, DJs and theatrical performance throughout the museum, special talks, tours and film screenings, a Revolutionary Reading Room and pop up poetry by Synergy Theatre Project. And if you really want your cake and eat it - Sketch are also hosting a 3-course lunch and exhibition ticket!
On now until Sunday, 26 February 2017 at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
We stumbled upon this little gem one evening and have been recommending it ever since. This is Mo Cafe; the little bro to next doors a la carte style restaurant MOMO. The traditional Moroccan bread you are served after being seated is well worth a visit alone, but the rest of the menu is incredible too! Try the mezze dishes and tagine.
You will feel as though you have been transported into Morocco when you step inside, with beautiful hanging lanterns and lamps, patterned floor tiles and colourful woven rugs cushioning the seating areas. It's like a little Aladdin's cave and the vibe is very informal and relaxed here. The food is served onto traditional ornate tray tables in front of you and pouffe's scattered around for people to pull up and join you. Even better - all items displayed are on sale, so you can take away more than a doggy bag... Restaurant owner Mourad Mazouz also launched the famous Sketch in London and has many projects across the globe.
Open for Brunch on Sat-Sun (11am-3pm) and Lunch & Dinner (mezze) Mon-Fri (12pm-1am). 25, Heddon street. London W1B 4BH.
We've found a fabulous speakeasy bar that's not in East London! Okay, we love the East, but we also like variety and this little secret bar is a great location for a sneaky beverage or surprise birthday date. Hidden behind an inconspicuous black door in Earl's Court, you will need to be careful not to miss the Evans and Peel Detective Agency. Head through it and into a dimly lit office where the detective will be waiting for you. Prepare your story as after a short interrogation, he will let you though a secret door concealed within an old bookshelf - something we've always wanted to do!
Exposed brick and naked bulbs make this role-play night out a sexy one - You've stepped into a 1920's prohibition experience. The secrecy and 'illegal' bottles of booze served up in brown paper bags make the whole event feel rather naughty! It's pricey at £11-13 per cocktail, but worth it.
Appointments available here. 310c Earls Ct Rd, Kensington, London SW5 9BA.
We look for interior inspiration everywhere we go - hotels, restaurants, friends homes, museums; it can be found all around us. We are incredibly lucky to have such a wide variety of unique museums in London and one of our favourites has to the Leighton House.
Refurbished in 2010, the former house belonged to Victorian artist Frederic Leighton who commissioned an architect friend to construct him a spectacular home to fill with his works of art, worldly possessions and treasures collected from across Europe.
A beautiful hidden staircase was uncovered and the house returned to it's former glory. The 'Arab Hall' with deep inky blue hues and stunning Middle Eastern glazed tiles has to be one of our favourite areas of the house.
Open daily except Tuesdays. 12 Holland Park Road, London W14 8LZ
Okay, so we've been raving about Hans Blomquist for quite a while now, but with the arrival of his latest book into the RSG library, it's re-ignited our love for his inspirational musings.
His Instagram is packed full of beautiful interiors, amazing photography and more conceptual inspiration, like colour, nature and materials. It hits the spot for lots of different creative types and most definitely worth a follow, if you don't already.
Come and join us swinging in the 60's! To celebrate the exhibition at the V&A we've created a 60's playlist with some of our favourite tracks. Click, follow and listen via Spotify.
