Top 5 Interior Design Trends For 2021

Our Founders Reveal The Hottest Home & Interior Trends

After the whirlwind of 2020, we’re looking ahead to discover the best interior design trends to embrace in 2021. And while things may still be uncertain in the world outside, the comfort of home deserves to be celebrated! From family dinners, to relaxing on the sofa and simply spending time together, we believe your home should be the best space possible for enjoying everyday moments.

With that in mind, trends can be a great tool to generate ideas and help create a magical, extraordinary home. In addition, small trend-led updates not only look great but also help you to feel energised and inspired. Therefore, our Co-founders Jane Rockett & Lucy St George have set about predicting the interior trends to watch in 2021. Exploring industry insights along with our hero products of 2020, our interiors trend edit for 2021 can be embraced on both a small or large scale. Here’s the top five interior trends we’re most excited about this year…

Coloured Glass Interior Trend

Products featured: Set of 2 Vintage Style Glass Tea Light Holders & Set of 3 Amber Glass Nest of Coffee Tables.

‘Gorgeous glassware has always been a staple in my home, from vintage finds to more modern ribbed or etched designs. Equal parts elegant and timeless, glassware has earned its reputation as a styling essential. And in 2021, things are set to become a whole lot brighter! For example, expect to see sexy smoked glass, rich amber tones, pastel pinks and everything in-between. As a bold alternative to classic glassware, this vibrant 2021 interiors trend promises to brighten any space with irresistible positivity. Moreover, with coloured glass not just reserved for dining, expect to see bright new accessories, lighting and furniture on the horizon! In short, clear glass has some serious competition this year…' - Jane Rockett

‘With global travel interrupted throughout 2020, one of our favourite themes for the next year embraces ultimate vacation vibes. So, let us introduce you to the fabulous 2021 interiors trend of escapism! Designed to help boost your mood, this trend celebrates colour, pattern and glamour in abundance. From vivid colours and the return of neon, to the rise of tropical patterns, this trend is a maximalist’s dream. Shelf Life Interior Trend

Products featured: Serene Monkey Candle Holder & Glass & Antique Wooden Sliding Doors Wall Cabinet.

Pinterest have announced shelf styling as the new gallery wall in their 2021 interior trend predictions. Therefore, there’s never been a better time to turn your attention to the shelves in your home! Most importantly, shelf displays can be curated with treasures found around your home; making it a brilliant project for any budget. With that in mind, here's a few top tips from our founder Jane for styling your shelves:

'When it comes to styling your shelves, keeping the colour scheme tonal has a positive effect on your mood. For example, choosing similar colours helps to create a calm and relaxing focal point to showcase your favourite things. Moreover, personal photos or mementos are a must! My shelves feature old photos, shells from holidays, pottery items made by my children and other bits that conjure up happy memories.

However, whilst you want your styling to be cohesive and calm, adding humour and quirk to your shelves is essential. Pieces that entertain, make people smile and command attention are genius at taking your shelves to the next level. So, don't hold back! Personally, my failsafe quirky additions have to be the Gold Peace Hand Ornament and Rope Climbing Man. These pieces are small but mighty and have the ability to completely transform the style spots of your home!’ - Jane Rockett

Products featured: Champagne Cocktail Coupe Glass & Pikes at Rockett St George Faux Leather Bar Trunk.

‘The humble home bar became the hero of our homes last year. And whilst we’re looking forward to our favourite hospitality spots reopening soon, there’s no reason why happy hour at home shouldn’t continue. Beautiful bar carts have long been in demand and this interiors trend looks set to rise even further in 2021. Therefore, we recommend dedicating an area in your home for a drinks trolley style spot or fabulous home bar. Above all, this space should sing and not be hidden away. So, go as big or small as you like but let it take centre stage! For instance, every home bar needs with gorgeous collections of glassware, quirky bar accessories and of course, plenty of booze...’ - Lucy St George

A Move To Mindfulness

Products featured: Faux Coral Ornament & Circle Design Mango Wood Sideboard Cabinet

As the appreciation of our homes has grown over the last year, so too has the need for me time. As a result, spaces in the home that help aid rest, relaxation and mindfulness are a big trend for 2021. This could be the corner of a bedroom, sitting room or even a space tucked away on the landing. In short, any space where you can take 10 minutes for yourself is important to celebrate. In the same vein as the Escapism trend, colour, pattern and materials are key to creating a space for mindfulness.

'With any space designed for relaxation it’s important to make it comfortable and peaceful on the eye. Colour is very emotive and as a result, pale neutrals, blues and greens are all great choices for creating calm. In fact, the interior trend for embracing shades of green is likely to be bigger than ever this year! Moreover, a cosy armchair for reading or escaping with a glass of wine is essential and natural materials help continue the peaceful theme. From rattan to artisan ceramics, organic wood and coastal inspired accessories, natural materials are ideal for introducing calm and serenity. Most importantly, while a dedicated space for me time is the dream, these tips can be applied across your home to help improve your mood and wellbeing.’ - Jane Rockett

Although we love taking inspiration from trends, we have always believed that the arrival of new trends doesn’t mean you need to change spaces that you love, or spend money to keep up. The most important factor for any home is to stay true to your individual sense of style. So, as always, feel free to pick and choose the trends that work for you and focus on revitalising your home with unique and quirky pieces that you love!
