Moroccan Wedding Blanket - H721

Moroccan wedding blankets, or Handira, are at the heart of Berber culture in Northern Morocco. Handira are woven out of wool, cotton and linen by the women in the brides family, these blankets are traditionally worn around the brides neck (like a cape) after the wedding ceremony and on the journey to her new home. After the wedding, the blankets are used as throws or wall hangings to ward off evil and bring fertility and good luck to the newlyweds.

Bring this wonderful tradition to your home by using these blankets as wall hangings or throws. Beautiful thrown over a bed, sofa or chair, we love the intricate detail of the hand woven sequins and gorgeous patterns on both sides.

This throw measures: 200cm x 134cm

Please see the additional information below for care instructions.

Please note: These blankets are hand woven using natural materials and are all completely unique. Slight imperfections and variations are to be expected.

Additional Info

The blankets have been carefully cleaned and are ready for use. It is not advisable to clean a blanket with water due to the risk of rust stains from the metal sequins. Dry cleaning should be fine. Wool is also self cleaning and if by hanging out a blanket in a fresh breeze occasionally, odors will dissapear.
