If nap time is your happy hour then these sleep tips are for you!
Establish a wind-down routine.
Coming up with a simple bedtime routine can work wonders on improving sleep. It can be as simple as a 15 minute, wind-down routine where you dim the lights, light some candles and read a book. It's small and simple changes that can have the biggest effect. So, spend some time coming up with a simple bedtime routine and over time this routine will become a habit that will hopefully help you drift off to a night of deeper and restful sleep.
Take a shower.
Did you know that taking a warm shower before you go to bed can help you slip off to sleep easier? After a warm shower, your body temperature will drop mimicking the fluctuations of your circadian rhythms and helping you drift off to sleep.
Consider Your Wall Paint.
Colour has a huge effect on your mood and so if you're struggling to sleep at night it could be the colour of your walls that's affecting you. For example, years ago co-founder, Jane Rockett, painted her bedroom dark red in the hope of creating a sexy boudoir. What Jane forgot was that red isn't a relaxing colour and it affected her night's sleep. Simply switching to a more relaxing colour had a huge effect on her mood and lead to a more restful nights sleep. Below are some great colour choices for the bedroom.
If you struggle to get those zzz then it's important that you immerse your room in darkness. Ensure that blue lights are kept out of your room (for example, your phone, laptops, TVs etc) and invest in black-out curtains. This can work wonders on your sleep quality and help regulate your circadian rhythm. We should note, however, if you struggle to wake up in the morning and constantly hit the snooze button, then it may be a good idea to sleep with your curtains open on the days when you really have to get out of bed on time.
This is a bit of a revelation for us. Said to help you sleep better as well as reducing anxiety and stress, gravity or weighted blankets are becoming quite the thing. Not the cheapest option out there, a weighted blanket is more of an investment buy, but certainly worth it if you're really struggling with insomnia.

Your one-stop podcast to hear all of your favourite influencers interviewed in one place Like To Know It is fast becoming one of our favourite podcasts. Where can I listen? You can listen to the Like To Know It Podcast on Apple Podcasts.
3. Modern Love Podcast - Maternal Wisdom (5 pounds worth) read by Gillian Anderson.
Based on the New York Times column, Modern Love this podcasts tells the stories of normal people's personal essays on love and how they have come to accept and understand love. Each story is read by well-known actors, singers, directors and comedians. A particular favourite of ours was Maternal Wisdom read by Gillian Anderson. It traces the story about a woman whose 6th-grade daughter brings home a flour-sack-baby home from school to look after. Bemused that the school was teaching 6th graders about parenting at such a young age, the woman soon saw the flour-sack-baby as an opportunity to teach her daughter about the parenting skills that her mother never had the opportunity to teach her. Touching, funny and an interesting look at parental love this is not an episode to be missed!
Psst... there is also an Amazon Prime series on some of the stories featured in the New York Times column, Modern Love. Modern Love, Episode 3 with Anne Hathaway as the protagonist is a particularly powerful episode.
Perfect for? The hopeless romantic or anyone who is interested in love in all it's forms.
Where can I listen? You can listen to Modern Love Podcast on Spotify.
