Welcome to the January Hot List

Happy New Year to you all, we hope that you had a fabulous time celebrating.
The beginning of each year is often spent reflecting on the previous one, and planning to make changes to improve the year ahead. We've jotted down what our own New Years Resolutions will be for 2015, see what you think, and if you'll be joining in on any of them!
As well as resolutions we are now back to work and in need of fresh inspiration. So, we have curated a Hot List full of all our top suggestions for things you can see, do, read and watch - to help lift those January blues.

Scroll down to view this month's prize - Boutique hotel Artist Residence will be offering you one of their beautiful new suites for the night. Plus we have all our top suggestions for January including an exciting production at the Soho Theatre, a Best of 2014 play list, who you should follow on Instagram this month, as well as a film, exhibition and blog that will all contribute to a great January.

"An eccentric bunch of fun and friendly small hotels. Unexpectedly homely."

We are really excited about this new hotel. With the Brighton location already a firm favourite of ours, we were lucky enough to contribute some lovely RSG products to this new London venture, which was launched in September 2014 by founder Justin Salisbury and his partner Charlotte, the creative director.

An intimate and homely 10 Bedroom Townhouse Hotel with a Restaurant & Cocktail Bar,  located in the neighbourhood of Pimlico (just a 5-minute walk from Victoria Station, Sloane Square & Belgravia). Everything is within easy reach of this central location, but to make it even easier, Artist Residence have collated a selection of the coolest places to visit, both close-by and a little further afield for you to explore during your stay.

This month we’re giving you the chance to win a complementary night's stay in one of the beautiful hotel suites, at the new London venue.

The original building, a public house, dates back to 1852 and was designed by the master planner Thomas Cubitt, who was renowned for creating the Belgravia and Pimlico neighbourhoods of London. Justin & Charlie have carefully restored the building over a period of two years, sourcing artwork and individual pieces of furniture along the way.

Written and performed by six young women from Belgian theatre company Ontroerend Goed, Sirens has been awarded a Stage Award for Excellence (2014) and nominated for the Total Theatre Award (2014). Their brutally honest and witty modern feminist performance will engulf you in the female world of pattern, expectations, equality, censorship and liberty.

"Accompanied by a shrieking sound-scrape of song, imagery, language and personal experience. They scream, laugh, sing, speak and cry their way through their experiences as women in the modern Western world. Primal, loud, powerful, proud. We are Sirens. And the stage is ours…" - Soho Theatre

‘Savagely funny & incandescent with rage… utterly exhilarating.’ ★★★★★ Times

Sirens is at the Soho Theatre until Jan 4th.

Usually we roll out the same resolutions every year - drink less, eat healthier and do more exercise. All of which we keep up for about 5 minutes, and then nose dive into an abyss of not denying ourselves anything less than luxury. Do you do the same?
Well, we've realised that we are great the way we are - and so are you! So this January we are pledging to inject a fresh perspective into our lives and make creative decisions when thinking about what resolutions to embark on.

Here is a few that we came up with in the office:

1. Learn how to cook
2. Go to Berlin
3. Less thinking, more adventures
4. Learn how to take a great photo
5. Try to do something creative everyday, even if it's just a thought!

We love playing music in the RSG office and decided to share our favourite songs from 2014 to look back reflect on a great year, and head into 2015 on a high! If you have a Spotify account then you can click here to listen to our New Year song list and add these songs to your own playlist, or search for them online... Enjoy!

1. Happy - Pharrell Williams
2. Busy Earnin' - Jungle

4. Jolene (Glasto 14) - Dolly Parton
5. Budapest - George Ezra
6. Strong - London Grammar
7. Everything You Ever Had - Andreya Triana

The Theory of Everything is an emotional portrait from the early years of Steven Hawkins career and student years.

The rather lovely Eddie Redmayne is expected to receive a Best Actor award for his stunning biopic performance. Based on written memoirs of Hawkins first wife Jane Wilde, the story begins when they first met at Cambridge University, when Hawkins was first diagnosed with Motor Neurones Disease at the age of 21. He was given a life expectancy of just 2 years, but Jane and Stephen went on to be married for 30. Expect a few wobbly bottom lip moments as well as a few tears throughout this epic movie.

Out on January 1st

Inspiration for creatives. See how Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist examines and explores the human body to transform it into a sensory experience of form, texture and colour.
Rist has created a fully immersive exhibition, drawing on principles of Autogenic Training - a relaxation process that involves a repeated set of visualisations viewed in various positions, including lying down (our favourite). The effect is calming and will alleviate your stress; enabling you to be more receptive of new ideas - handy when making New Year's resolutions!

The exhibition is on at Hauser & Wirth until 10th January.

AnnaGillar is curated by Stockholm based stylist Anna Mårselius. Anna is an absolute master when it comes to interiors - every image on her wonderful blog is just incredibly beautiful.

Anna works on anything from major ad-campaigns and commercials to showroom styling and editorial features for magazines and online publications. Her passion for interiors is clear, and with it she provides a wonderful library of inspiration for all of us to soak up and re-invent in our own homes.

This year is all about Piloxing: Pilates meets Boxing.

It's said to be the new Zumba and a hot new exercise trend for 2015. We are jumping on the band wagon, as we do every January, to get fit and be healthier (we'll let you know how that goes!). If you're looking for something exciting to help you work off those 'Christmas Party Pounds' then this is definitely the thing for you.
If you're not a regular gym-class bunny, once you get past the initial session (you can burn up to 800 calories!) you'll feel energised and refreshed - ready for the next class!
