Win: A two night Post Covid-19 Trip to the Cornish Coast for two
Who wouldn’t want a guaranteed trip to the Cornish coast post lockdown?! We've all been dreaming of normality and lovely holidays abroad and so this month Rockett St George has partnered with Kip Hideaways.
Kip is a gorgeous holiday-planning website that only features self-catering hideaways for 2-6 people at affordable prices. Kip handpicks only the very best hideaways with incredible interiors and caring owners who want you to have a great stay. What's more, most of the hideaways featured on the Kip website are exclusive meaning that they can't be found on other travel sites and membership only costs £10 a month to view and book these incredible hideaways.
So, for our June Hot list 2020, Kip is offering one lucky winner the chance to stay for two nights at either the beautiful St Ives Garden Studio or the St Ives Seaside Studio - an exciting post-lockdown treat for two!
Both of the stunning Cornish hideaways are nestled into the former fishermen’s quarter and combines the creative heritage of the town with unique mid-century décor. The owners spent months sourcing mid-century furniture and choosing quirky modern furnishings for their pair of romantic rentals (including with some treasures from Rockett St George). You'll find Ercolani pebble tables, a Haus Schmidt floor lamp… exposed whitewashed walls, herringbone flooring and tall palm plants are a super-chic backdrop. If St Ives itself wasn’t so beautiful you’d just hole up and bask in the sheer style of your accommodation. But make the effort to explore the town’s cobbled lanes, world-class galleries and golden beaches. Great restaurants are all around and sunsets on Porthmeor Beach are magical.
See: Drive-in Cinema
Reminiscent of 50's style American Drive-in films that you have seen in all the classics, the Drive-In Cinema will be a new way to enjoy cinema this summer whilst safely social distancing.
The modern take on classic drive-in cinema, expect fims of the 80s to modern-day hits that you know and love all from the comfort and safety of your car. The Drive-in Cinema will be hitting a number of cities near you this summer including, London, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol, Southhampton, Cardiff and more. You can join the waiting list to visit the classic drive-in cinema near you here.
RSG Top Tip: If you miss out on tickets or want to create a fun night in for all the family, why not create a cinema experience from your back garden. Lisa Dawson has created a cinema space with a screen in her outdoor space and we lust after it every summer. You can check it out on Lisa Dawson's Instagram. What's more, if you head down to the 'Playlist' section of our Hot List, you'll see our top ideas for hosting Glastonbury at home which would be the perfect on the big screen in your garden with a warm beer to really re-create that glasto-experience!
Read: Jane & Lucy's June Edit
We've asked Co-founders of Rockett St George, Jane Rockett and Lucy St George what they are up to this June and how they'll be enjoying this lovely weather we're having.
What New Products will you be taking home with you this month?
Lucy: For me, it will be the Crittall-Style Indoor/Outdoor Mirror With Sloping Top, Large Rustic Stone Effect Lion Head Planter, Lime Green Tropical Pattern Reversible Outdoor Garden Rug to enjoy with this lovely weather I will be making the most of my garden. I am hoping to create an outside living room vibe, with room to chill, eat and spend time with the family.
Jane: Like lots of people I am taking the time at home to organise my kitchen cupboards. I love all the new kitchen items especially the spotty storage bowls with lids.
How are you going to make the most of your outdoor space during the hot weather?
Lucy: Well, it looks a little like a beer garden at the moment with my festoon lights! All spaces have to work a little harder at the moment to take into account that more people are home at once. So, it has to be as practical as well as pretty. As such, I'm trying to create zones so that it can be used by different people for different reasons at the same time. A table for eating and study, a chilling space and a cocktail area for when you just need a drink!
Jane: I like to accessorise my outside space with cushions and throws for maximum comfort. Plus it means you can be cosy when the sun goes down. I am planning a family Glastonbury where we project onto a wall and have a barbecue and drink cider. I won't be sleeping outside though.
What exciting projects are you working on at Rockett St George this month?
Lucy: Jane and I are very blessed that part of our role is to design new products. We are currently working on new artwork, kitchenware and new bathmats. I love the variety of the products we offer and it's such a great opportunity to inject personality and a little fun into everyday essential items.
Jane: Believe it or not I have just been working on this year's Christmas Cracker designs. They are bloody lovely even if I say so myself. I can't wait to see the samples come through.
Take Part: World Environment Day 2020
Make your good habits last!
World Environment Day 2020 falls on the fifth of June this year and so, now is the time to be more eco friendly in your home. Small changes can lead to lasting habits. And it's those habits which make a big impact when it comes to leading a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
What you can do...
On the Rockett St George blog, we have lots of eco-friendly tips to help you live more sustainably and do your part for the planet. A good start would be to check out our blog, How To Be More Eco Friendly in The Home which rounds up easy ways to be more sustainable.
What we're doing...
To ensure that we are doing our part and staying accountable to our commitments we have published our Eco Policy on the Rockett St George website which outlines everything we are doing to protect our earth. Some of the things that Rockett St George has done to take care of the environment include:
- We've replaced the use of bubble wrap and plastic with paper which is fully recyclable and biodegradable.
- We're developing more own-brand products to gain better control over our use of recyclable and sustainable materials.
- We have switched our energy supplier for RSG HQ to the renewable electricity company Ecotricity.
Lastly, we also stock a number of eco-friendly products made from recyclable glass and fast-growing plants such as bamboo and we sell reusable products too. Below are a few of our favourite eco-friendly homewares and you can shop the whole collection in our Eco-Friendly Living Department.

Eat: Picnic Ideas for your garden or outdoor space
We are looking forward to a sizzling hot June and what better way to enjoy the beautiful sunshine than with a picnic at your local park or in your garden?! But please be sure to strictly follow all social distancing guidelines. More information can be found on the government website: www.gov.uk/coronavirus
Picnic food ideas.
Afternoon Tea - Baking has become a very popular lockdown activity, but something else that's been incredibly popular is creating the cream tea experience at home. So, this got us thinking... why not have a cream tea picnic? We found this Pimms scones recipe from BBC Good Food that looks delicious for you to try. Alternatively, you can order cream tea from Brigit's Bakery, Fortnum & Mason and The Dorchester.
Cocktails, cocktails, cocktails! - The Quarantini has become a bit of a household classic for us and so we've created a blog with lots of cocktail recipes for you to follow. Don't forget glamorous cocktail glasses to complete the posh picnic experience!
Ideas to create the ultimate picnic space.
Garden rugs - Rugs are not just for indoors! We're of the firm belief that to create an inviting outdoor space you should bring the indoors outside. Indeed, what better way to do that than with garden/outdoor rugs? Our new range of beautiful garden rugs can easily be repurposed as picnic rugs, plus they are made from plastic so are wipeable too!
Great glassware - Cocktails, Pimms and wine all taste that little bit better in beautiful glassware. So for your picnic or garden space, we recommend getting your hands on some lovely water glasses and wine glasses. A jug would also be useful for water too.
Sit in style If you really want to go all out why not get your hands on a lovely table and chairs set. We think our Black Metal Garden Table & Chairs Set would look lovely in your gardens, balconies or outdoor space.
Cushions - After you've stuffed yourself silly with delicious food you might want to have a short nap. So, invest in a few lovely cushions and use them in your outdoor space or at your picnic spot. They are great for both napping or sitting on!
Outdoor Lighting - Lucy St George has strung festoon lights in her garden transforming her garden into a luxe escape. This would be a great idea if you'd like to create an intimate picnic experience for your loved one at nighttime.
