Chapter 4 - Styling Your Space (A Little Bit At A Time)

Chapter 4 is all about creating interiors that raise eyebrows, make you smile and stand out from the crowd. Throughout the chapter, Jane and Lucy share their top tips for styling the home and arranging your space.

5 Key Takeaways

  1. Go With The Flow - Don't be afraid to move and re-arrange furniture - you would be amazed to see what a positive change it can have on the energy in a room.
  2. The Coffee Table is a great place to hone your styling skills. Create a display featuring a carefully curated selection of items that you love and focus on heights and textures to create a journey for the eyes.
  3. Beds should always have a view - if you don't have one, create a style spot to look at (perhaps a dressing table or chaise longue). To style the bed itself, dress it in layers - add cushions, chunky throws and sheepskins to create an inviting vision.
  4. Always maximise natural light - take down heavy curtains and allow the natural light to flood in.
  5. Creative storage - and lots of it - is essential. Think tall kitchen cabinets, beds with drawers beneath and capacious cupboards. How can you have a beautiful interior if you haven't got somewhere to hide all the things you don't want out on display.
