If you think that September marks the end of summer fun... Then think again!

September is here and it brings with it the last of the summer sunshine. The kids are back to school (hooray), the leaves are starting fall and our AW17 look book is about to land on doormats. This month is all about design, creativity, and fashion, so to help you immerse yourself in some hot culture we have come up with the best things to see, do, shop and more.

Have a marvelous month!

Jane, Lucy and the RSG Team x

From the company that has brought us the brilliant Pencil Canvas', this month we have two exquisite art pieces to be won! Mineheart was launched in 2010 by designers Brendan Young and Vanessa Battaglia, who together make Young & Battaglia (check out our 10 Mins With blog with the pair here). The company believes that 'the objects we surround ourselves with every day should be made of stories, love, art, and poetry in order to meaningfully exist'.

The idea behind Mineheart is to create a playground for creativity and discovery, where art meets design, and poetry meets industry.  Mineheart tries to inject a sense of wonder into everyday objects and spaces around us, telling stories and creating things that are truly surprising.

True to the sentiment of bringing us wonderful and thought provoking design the classical prints called Madam Blush and Monsieur Mint (size 813mm x 660mm x 40mm), have been playfully defaced with paint in an act of modern day mischief. A very stylish type of vandalism! The ornate frame is not as it seems; in fact, it’s printed onto the canvas!

To be in for the chance to win the two art prints - Madam Blush and Monsieur Mint (size 813mm x 660mm x 40mm), simply click the above link and answer one simple question!

For one reason only, September has got to be our favourite month ... the design darling! This month get your design fix by heading to the coolest shows out there. With the London Design Festival featuring Decorex International, 100% DESIGN, Focus 17, Design Junction and the London Design Fair - you are completely and utterly spoiled for choice.

Of course, we just could not miss out on all of the excitement and so we'll be there too! Never one to miss out on all of the excitement, we’ve decided to share the trail of the events which we will be attending so that you can retrace our steps…

No.1 Decorex International

This year Decorex celebrates 40 years of design collaborations at Syons House. Our must sees at the show are Curiousa & Curiousa who will be showcasing their beautiful hand-blown glass and Clarke & Clarke who create vibrant and bright wallpaper patterns that simply WOW.

No. 2 100% Design

The UK's largest trade show for architects and designers, 100% Design is our next stop on the map. Offering installations, features, and designs that are all inspired by the theme 'elements', our top exhibitors include Design London, a group of brands that showcase the creme de la creme of high-quality design. Also, keep a look out for Max Fraser's immersive installation which will explore the theme of 'elements' on a grand scale.

No.3 Focus 17

Hosted at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, Focus 17 will be a jam-packed event of design talks, workshops, interior designer insights and more! On for six days, our top choice would have to be the Conversations In Designs which will feature top interiors experts such as Living Etc's Associate editor, Sarah Spiteri, Interior Designer Tiffany Duggan (check out her 10 Mins With Blog here) and Spanish Architect and Designer Patricia Urquiola (designer of our Ritzenhoff Champagne Flute).

No. 4 Design Junction

Our next stop will be Design Junction at 1 Granary Square, Kings Cross. Dedicated to connecting renowned design brands with top architects, industry experts, and interior designers ... this show is for the hardcore design lovers! With a diverse programme of installations, talks, and shows there is so much to see. We'll be popping by the Olivia Aspinall's exhibit who will be showcasing a variety of bespoke and hand crafted surfaces, as well as Hila Rawet Karni's industrial jewellery stand. Also, don't miss out on the 'Where Design Meets Home' talk hosted by Claudia Baillie with speakers Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead from 2LG Studio, designer Daniel Schofield and Jemma Ooi, Director at Custhom.

No. 5 London Design Fair

Last, but certainly not least ... London Design Fair. A four-day event that attracts exhibitors from around the world we will be heading to the debut Warehouse Home apartment, in the heart of Shoreditch (psst... you'll be able to spot a few RSG pieces there) and Malwina Konopacka's hand painted ceramics and vases.

Keep an eye out for a follow-up blog of our visit!

16th - 24th September 2017

If you're anything like us and you love to spend your weekends trailing flea markets and boot sales then read closely ... Flea at Flat Iron Square is a MUST visit.

Every Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm, the market is a weekly treasure trove of wonderful and jaw-dropping pieces. With an array of vintage clothes, books, ceramics, vinyl, art and furniture – you won't need to go anywhere else to get your flea market fix! Even better, Flea at Flat Iron Square has managed to combine our two greatest passions and bought it to one place – vintage and food! With a huge selection of pop up restaurants and bars, you can fuel up before searching for a hard bargain… in our opinion, this is the only way you should spend your Sundays!

Flea at Flat Iron Square is also a brilliant opportunity to sell some of the pieces that you no longer want or love - although, be warned - we are yet to make a profit after all the shopping!

We couldn't write the September Hot List without mentioning London Fashion Week! On from the 15th to the 19th of September, it's the place to be in the social calendar. But if you haven't bagged yourself a ticket, don't think you've missed out on all of the fun. Oh no, there are still plenty of things to get involved with ...

The week after London Fashion Week, London Fashion Week Festival will keep the fashion week buzz alive with a series of trend catwalks, talks from leading fashion industry experts and pop-up shops. On at The Store Studios, 180 Strand, London Fashion Week Festival is a guaranteed four-day extravaganza from the 21st to the 24th of September. Incidentally, the dates coincide with the London Design Festival, so it’s well worth checking out. Over the years we have learned that fashion and interiors inspire each other and what showcases on the catwalk quite often ends up in your living room!

Once you've shopped yourself silly, we highly recommend swinging by the restaurant Bronte, for canapes and booze. With enviable interiors that ooze high-end fashion, you'll feel as though you are right in the middle of the fashion week buzz, whilst sitting back and sipping your favourite cocktail!

A pop-up restaurant that was so popular it became a permanent feature, Shackfuyu is our new favourite eatery. Serving mouth-wateringly good western-style Japanese food this little restaurant has created an east meets west match made in foodie heaven and we just cannot get enough of it.

The product of the hugely successful Bone Daddies empire, Shackfuyu is based in Old Compton Street,  London and is perfect if you're on the go or if you're looking for a leisurely spot for lunch. But what really gets us going is the bottomless brunch on Sundays and ...  wait for it ... Mondays too! We suggest doing a 'f**k it, it's Monday bender' and heading down to Shackfuku for unlimited prosecco, pineapple sake along with Kinakko french toast with soft serve ice cream .... delish!

Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings

So naturally, Open House London is the perfect event! Have a nose around Londons most iconic buildings for free! That's right, for one weekend only hundreds of amazing buildings of all types and periods open their doors for you to explore!

As self-confessed treasure hunters, there is nothing that we like more than seeking out the gems - particularly the ones that are hard to find. So naturally, Open House London is the event for us! On from the 16th- 17th of September, our top choices to have a little snoop around would be Senate House (London's tallest secular building and a Grade II listed building that features exquisite art deco elements, classism and is a popular TV filming spot!), the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (the only Georgian building left on Spital Square - the building was originally owned by a Peter Ogier, a Huguenot silk merchant) and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (meet the brains behind the architectural design of this iconic space).
