After our long list of inspirational places to visit in New York could not be contained to one post, we decided to split our recommendations into two parts. You've seen our favourite places to eat, sleep and drink, and now we want to share our top spots to shop and see.
Okay, you've probably heard of it. But the Museum of Modern Art is THE source of inspiration for any design junkie. It's a must see, must go to gallery brimming with famous paintings, sculpture and even performance art - which we were lucky enough to be surprised by during our trip! Maria Hassabi: PLASTIC is a live instillation of dancers who, in very slow motions, move up and across the floors and staircases of the MOMA.
Our favourite part of the museum has got to be the work of Frida Kahlo. This particular piece - a self portrait beautifully framed with a matching mirror - was gifted to her close friend Mary Sklar so that, if Sklar chose, the two friends could be together. What a lovely sentiment! MOMA is bursting with jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring works that cannot be misssed.

SHOP: ABC CARPET AND HOME
The name 'ABC Carpet and Home' does little to excite the imagination, but the store itself is a fantasy world for everything interiors. Let your imagination run wild. An Aladdin's Cave of furniture, lighting, fabrics and even jewllery: ABC is the place to be. We couldn't believe our eyes as we explored the exotic interior of the store, sifting through silken rugs and admiring ornate hand blown glass chandeliers. Don't forget to take note of their incredible window displays - these alone provide gorgeous decor inspiration!

BROOKLYN FLEA MARKET
The Brooklyn Flea Market is THE best for vintage homeware, clothes and incredible food. You can expect a carefully curated selection of jewellery, art and crafts by local artisans and designers, and always in a heaving sea of like minded individuals searching for the best bargain around. The market covers a huge expanse of outdoor space in summer, and in winter the market moves into an indoor space in Industry City.
The Brooklyn Flea Instagram is a great way to preview collections of amazing items that can be bought from over 100 vendors at the Market. We spent so much time here and feel there is still so much more to be discovered within the stalls... we'll be back!

If you are on the look out for lots of new shops, restaurants, bars...Williamsburg is for you. The area is very much a creative hub - like Shoreditch - with an outstanding collection of Vintage stores where you will most likely fall in love with a whole new wardrobe (make sure you have suitcase space, seriously!)
In particular we loved Beacon's Closet, a female founded business that embraces sustainability and ethical practices, and who also have the best selection of vintage clothing in town. With features in Vanity Fair, the NY Times and Italian and French vogue, these ladies are the real deal. Also...check out the wallpaper/glittering pendant light combo! Love.
