This weekend the MAISON&OBJET tradeshow snowballed headfirst into 2016, and we were lucky enough to be there. It was wonderful. Paris does a lot of things, but if it does one thing best (okay, apart from food and wine) then that would be its ability to inspire! Everywhere we went was fit to burst with creativity and effortless style. When in Paris it can be tough to keep the work/play balance, but we gave it our all.

This year Maison Objet was bigger and more inspiring than ever. We were spoiled for choice thanks to the awe inspiring designers exhibiting this year. The extravagant room displays created pockets of imagination at every corner, and the collections of furniture, accessories and textiles were so impressive that we came away with much more than planned! You'll be excited to hear we'll be getting in inflatable bunny ear chair, motorcycle helmet ice buckets (yes, really) and Christian Lacroix plates...

Inbetween the magnificent madness of three days at the show, we spent our time gorging on the incredible and authentic cuisine of Chez Casimir: our go-to restaurant on every Paris trip. It's one of our favourite places to wind down in, and sinking into their chairs with an expertly recommended wine is bliss. It's almost like returning to a cosy home after a long, busy day! All their food is fresh from the local market and they have a cheese board to die for.

Of course we stopped by Merci for a quick browse, and stayed in our favourite, ever-buzzing Mama Shelter. The interior never ceases to amaze us. The bar features a black ceiling decorated in chalk letting, and each room boasts an eccentric modern style. Our last night was spent soaking up cocktails in their amazing bar and lounge before enjoying a well deserved slumber in a black painted room. Heaven! (This was after trying on the array of masks they keep on display in each room, of course...)

So what have we taken away from our short city break? We pinned down our top do's and don'ts...

Do give yourself lots of time. We spent three days at the show, and still feel like we needed more time to take it all in! Sadly we didn't have enough hours in the day to visit the prestigious and impeccably designed Caffè Stern. The interior features diamond-dripping taxidermy, elaborate wooden frames and deluxe low lighting, so we've put that to the top of the list for next time!

Don't forget to download. find a great TV show or film to watch if you're travelling by Eurostar. We are now TOTALLY addicted to the Transparent series.

Do visit an inspirational hotspot! The Marais is great for boutiques and stocking up on magazines for inspiration at home and in the office.
